ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ann Arbor Roller Derby League, also known as the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes (A2D2) is the only women’s banked track roller derby league in Michigan to join the rapidly exploding women-only roller derby teams sweeping the United States and Canada. The entry of the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes means the state of Michigan will be one of only 10 states to have two different types of roller derby leagues, banked track and flat track (such as the Detroit Derby Girls and Grand Raggidy Roller Girls) available to roller derby followers and sports enthusiast alike. Now fans of women’s roller derby can enjoy both!

Compatible with Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) rules, which coordinates and set the rules that govern sanctioned inter-league competition, the World Organization of Roller Derby (WORD), banked track league rule set is designed to be compatible allowing skaters and refs to participate in both types of competition.

Roller derby is a full contact, high-intensity competitive sport on takes place on four-wheels and a banked track mostly made from Masonite and built on supporting flex steel so that skaters can almost bounce back. It involves two teams of four blockers skating around an elliptical banked track, while a point scorer from each team, called the jammer, tries to fight their way through, gaining a point for each opposing player they pass.
